Mr. Parker studied 4 years in Army JROTC and served in
 the US Coast Guard from 1951-1954.  He began
training in Kenpo in 1947 and was promoted to Black
Belt by Prof.  William Chow in 1953.  He taught Kenpo at
Brigham Young Univ. from 1954-1956 and received
Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Psychology there in
1956.  Mr. Parker also opened a Kenpo Karate Studio in
Pasadena, CA. that same year.  Among his students
were Hollywood actors, directors, and others.  Due to this
fact, he was able to introduce martial arts into the world
of, and he himself often appeared in, television shows
and the movies as well as magazines and books.  Mr.
Parker has authored many books and training manuals
as well.  Mr. Parker's innovations and contributions to the
martial arts are far too numerous to be mentioned here.

Edmund Kealoha Parker, Sr.
Senior Grandmaster of American Kenpo
(1931-1990)
Mr. Burks began his Karate training in 1966, earning
black belt rankings in Tae Kwon Do and Okinawan
Karate before beginning Kenpo in 1986.  He became a
personal student of Mr. Parker in 1988 and was
promoted to 7th Degree Black Belt in 2006 by Sigung
Steven LaBounty and Master John Sepulveda.   He
works and lives in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, owns a
commercial survey company, and is a John Lyons Select
Trainer, instructing horses and riders.  Mr. Burks owns
and operates the North Texas Kenpo Institute.
Mr. Fritz studied 4 years in Army JROTC before serving
in the US Army from 1983 -1991 as an Airborne Ranger
(2/75) and an Arctic Paratrooper (1/501).  He began his
Kenpo training in 1989 under Mr. Larry Carmichael,
currently of
KENPO 2000 and later trained with Mr.
Craig Million, currently of the
Frank Trejo Karate
Association
.  Mr. Fritz is now a student of Sr. Prof.
Tommy Burks, has been teaching Kenpo in Texarkana,
TX since 2000, and works as a Field Paramedic for
LifeNet EMS.

John Sepulveda
Master of the Arts

Mr. Sepulveda began training in Kenpo in 1965,
earning his Black Belt in 1977.  He was a direct student
of Mr. Parker.  Mr. Sepulveda has appeared on
television, in magazines, and has written many articles
on the art of American Kenpo.  He is the founder of  the
'American Kenpo Training System' .   He is one of the
founding members of the
'American Kenpo Senior
Council
'.  He has received many awards, including the
California Karate League's 'Official of the Year Award',
and the
Associated Teachers Assn. of the Martial
Artists (ATAMA) 'Hall of Fame Award'
.  In 2007 he was
inducted as a '
Charter Member' of the 'Kenpo Hall of
Fame'
.  In 2008 he was inducted into the 'World Martial
Arts Assn. Hall of Fame'
.  In 2009 he was inducted into
the
'Masters Hall of Fame'.
John Wardlow
Instructor
Mr. Wardlow served in the US Army from 1964 -1967 in
the Signal Corp.  He began his Kenpo training in 1972
under Mr. Terry Arnell.  Mr. Wardlow is currently a
student of Mr. Joe Fritz and works as an Instrument
Electrician for International Paper.
